The University of New Brunswick, in partnership with the Schulich Executive Education Centre,
Schulich School of Business, York University, is offering their path breaking Masters Certificate
in Business Analysis (MCBA) program in Saint John beginning in April 2009.

This program is the only Masters Certificate in Business Analysis program in Canada and is backed by not just one, but six leading Canadian Universities. This program focuses on the vital ingredients to be an effective Business Analyst – from planning, communicating, eliciting, and analyzing to validating and managing the user requirements - through the project life cycle. The result: projects with cost savings, accurate time to market, and most importantly, solutions that meet the organization’s business needs.

Effective Business Analysts are very much in demand today in the technical arena as well as the
business side of projects and formal education is becoming a base requirement. This program
builds the knowledge and skills of a successful and sought after Business Analyst.

Who should attend?
• Business Analysts from all industries who are responsible for identifying, analyzing and
managing business requirements, analyzing business processes and recommending solutions
• Business Analysts and their Managers who are new to the role
• Business Analysts who lack formal training and need to close the gaps in their background

Canada is facing a major shortage of information and communications technology (ICT) workers and the situation is projected to worsen in the years ahead. The Information Technology Career Pathways Workshop is a one-day event bringing together educators and ICT industry leaders in New Brunswick to help address this important issue.

The workshop’s objectives are:

to help Canada and New Brunswick become more competitive in the 21st century.
to increase educator awareness of current trends and careers in the ICT industry and to help educators become aware of the shortage of computing and information technology professionals in Canada.
to obtain feedback from educators as to why high school students are not taking advantage of the opportunities available to them in the computing, information and communication technology field.
to explore how K-12 educators, industry and higher education can work together to assist/encourage students to make wise ICT career choices.

The ACEnet Consortium provides high performance computing resources for researchers in Atlantic Canada, and ACEnet equipment has recently been installed at UNB Saint John. About ACEnet
Over the last five years, universities across Canada have been organising themselves into regional groups to acquire and operate large-scale high performance computing (HPC) facilities for research. Several of these "HPC Consortia" now exist and each has received tens of millions of dollars in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI), provincial matching funds, and corporate partners.

ACEnet ("Atlantic Computational Excellence Network") is Atlantic Canada's entry into this national fabric of HPC facilities. It is a partnership of seven institutions, including Memorial University of Newfoundland, University of New Brunswick, Mount Allison University, Dalhousie University, St. Francis Xavier University, St. Mary's University and the University of Prince Edward Island.
