Canada ICT Mission to Mexico

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) is pleased to invite Canadian exporters to participate in the ICT mission to Mexico, February 22-26, 2010. The Embassy of Canada and its Consulates in Mexico will organize matchmaking one-on-one meetings with Mexican counterparts (potential buyers, distributors or government officials) according to the Canadian clients’ interest and needs.

The mission will include Mexico City with an option to cover Guadalajara and/or Monterrey, depending on your business interests. In Mexico City, the matchmaking will take place in parallel with the “B3 Forum powered by EXPO COMM” tradeshow and conference, February 23-25 (http://expocomm.com/mexico/). B3 Forum powered by EXPO COMM is the most complete and important communications industry event in Mexico and Latin America, putting leading providers of ICT technologies, systems, products, and services in touch with the broadest market of companies that demand ICT solutions.

This mission will appeal to Canadian ICT companies interested in establishing or expanding business activities in Mexico, and will be of interest to firms working in various sub-sectors, including telecommunications, software, new media, IT security and microelectronics. The core of the mission will be a customized matchmaking program. Additionally, in order to maximize business opportunities for Canadians, the following complementary services will be organized:

 Briefing at the Canadian Embassy and at Consulates on the Mexican ICT market
 Networking events
 Canadian pavilion at “B3 Forum powered by EXPO COMM”
 Face-to-face business counselling from the Canadian Embassy’s Trade Division

Le Ministère des Affaires Étrangères et du Commerce International (MAECI) a le plaisir d’inviter les exportateurs canadiens à participer à la mission des technologies de l’information et des communications (TIC) qui aura lieu au Mexique, du 22 au 26 février 2010. L’Ambassade du Canada et ses consulats au Mexique vont organiser des réunions de jumelage avec leurs homologues mexicains (acheteurs potentiels, distributeurs et fonctionnaires du gouvernement) en fonction des besoins et des intérêts des clients canadiens.

Who will be on the call?

Mr. Arnott has spent 10 of his 20 years with RBC in the KBI field in Ottawa. Mr. Arnott has a unique interest in the technology market and is an active member of the community through various Board and community Associations including CATA. David, who is also T4G's Vice-President Innovation, brings 20 years of telecommunications and technology experience with industry leaders like NBTel, MT&T, iMagicTV and Alcatel. For example, in the mid 1990s MT&T Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of the phone company in Nova Scotia, was way ahead of its time with a teledemocracy application, or tele-voting system with the push of a button. David played a key role in this forward-thinking service. He also spearheaded MT&T's (now Bell Aliant) launch of 7MBPS consumer DSL service, the first of its kind in Canada for software on demand. David also led the product development and management of the world-class iMagicTV and Alcatel IPTV middleware platforms and applications for telecom digital TV – bringing the interactive TV experience to the customers of "the telephone company".
